Middle Eastern Lamb Burgers

Ellen Whiteman

Middle Eastern Lamb Burgers are a delicious and flavorful option for those following a keto, low carb, or paleo diet. These burgers are seasoned with ground cumin, salt, and ground red pepper for a spicy kick. They are made with lean ground lamb and cooked on the grill for a smoky flavor. Serve the burgers in pitas with spinach leaves, sliced tomato, sliced onion, and a tangy yogurt sauce. Top it off with some mango chutney for a burst of sweetness. This recipe is perfect for a summer cookout or a weeknight dinner.

1/2 lbs Lean Ground Lamb

2 Pitas
Spinach Leaves
2 tbsp Plain Fat-Free Yogurt

Instructions

Step 1 : Preparation

Combine regular oats, cold water, ground cumin, salt, and ground red pepper in a food processor blender. Process until mixture forms a paste.

Step 2 : Mixing and Shaping

Stir the paste into lean ground lamb, mixing well. Shape the mixture into 2 (1-inch thick) patties.

Step 3 : Cooking

Place a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add the lamb patties and cook, covered, for 3-4 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels.

Step 4 : Assembling

Cut a 1-inch slice off the top of each pita and open the pocket. Line the pitas with spinach leaves and top with the lamb patties. Top each with 1 tablespoon of plain fat-free yogurt, and, if desired, sliced tomato, sliced onion, and mango chutney.
