Instructions

Step 1 :

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Step 2 :

Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and use a meat pounder or heavy skillet to gently pound them to a ¼-inch thickness.

Step 3 :

Sprinkle the chicken evenly with the garlic powder, sage, and ¼ teaspoon each of the salt and pepper. Cover each breast with a slice of ham and a slice of cheese.

Step 4 :

Starting on a long side, tightly roll up each breast and secure it with toothpicks to keep it together.

Step 5 :

Place the rolled breasts in a 9 × 9-inch baking dish. Pour the melted butter over the chicken and season with the remaining ¼ teaspoon each salt and pepper.

Step 6 :

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake until the chicken is starting to brown and is cooked through, 18 to 20 minutes more.

Step 7 :

To serve, plate the chicken and use a spoon to drizzle it with the pan juices. Serve whole or sliced to show the filling.
